Lt. Col. Mackenzie Birchenough

Lieutenant Colonel MacKenzie J. Birchenough serves as Materiel Leader, Space Safari, Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles Air Force Base. In this role, she leads SSC’s Tactically Responsive Space (TacRS) program and responds to urgent and high-priority space needs by rapidly acquiring, integrating and executing combatant command directed missions.
She has served in a variety of positions across the United States Air Force and Space Force including the Air Force Research Laboratory, the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, the National Reconnaissance Office, the DAF Rapid Capabilities Office and Space Systems Command.
Lt Col Birchenough holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota, an M.S. in Space Systems from the Air Force Institute of Technology, an M.S in Airpower Strategy and Technology Integration and is a graduated Chief of Staff of the Air Force Blue Horizons fellow.
