Scott A. McLaughlin is an experienced executive and engineer with a diverse background in business and design. He has worked in private and government sectors and has traveled widely in support of his specialized radar systems, which are used for space launch, aviation, and atmospheric research.
Mr. McLaughlin’s diverse experience helps him build bridges as well as improve communications and organizational efficiency. He has also learned to appreciate the difficulties and advantages of both business and government, including first-hand, the trials and tribulations of entrepreneurial companies.
Mr. McLaughlin was born and raised in New Mexico. After graduating from New Mexico State University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, he moved to Colorado where he later became a principal in establishing a radar design and manufacturing business. He returned to New Mexico after more than a 25-year absence. Mr. McLaughlin has been at Spaceport America since April 2019 and became Executive Director in March 2021.
