Originally aired on: April 18, 2023
Gen. James H. Dickinson, Commander of the U.S. Space Command, describes the crucial role space plays in the U.S. economy, science and defense.
“Every piece of our military operation is somehow grounded, no pun intended, in space, whether that’s maritime operations, air operations, land operations or cyber operations,” Dickinson said. “Two years ago in this room, I declared that U.S. Space Command had reached initial operating capability. And today, we are on track to declare full operational capability later this year.”
As of the presentation, the U.S. Space Command had more than 150 space situational awareness sharing agreements involving 33 nations and international organizations, 129 commercial companies, and seven universities.
