Earth’s orbit has been compared to the Wild West, with few rules governing conduct. Now, spacefaring nations are working to bring order to the space domain with regulations governing everything from maneuvering in space to orbital debris. The Artemis Accords, brokered by the United States, would also govern conduct on the Moon and Mars. The state of laws and regulations governing behavior in space was a hot topic at the 2023 Space Symposium in Colorado Springs.
