The first woman to enter space was Soviet Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova in 1963, paving the way for women around the world to participate in the space industry. Since that time, women have become an increasing figure in space capabilities and flight. The Women In Space series focuses on the inclusion, contributions, and development of women in Space and in the United States Space Force.
